Am I the only one that thinks it’s still cold outside?
Maybe I’m way off here, but I still shiver when I get into my car. And I steer with my fingernails so my hands don’t get cold.
It’s definitely possible that I’m just being a sissy, because I did just get home from vacation on Captiva Island and it was BEAUTIFUL there. So can you blame me for coming back to Vermont and wanting to bundle up? Or better yet, make hot chocolate? Homemade hot chocolate? With peanut butter? And Reese’s cups? Either way, that’s what I did. And it was worth it.
This stuff is soooo good. It’s wicked decadent, so it’s better as a dessert than a beverage, but trust me when I say you’re going to want to try this. Especially if you like the peanut butter/chocolate combo. And it beats instant hot chocolate by a mile and three quarters. Not to mention it is EASY AS HECK.
- 1 cup of milk chocolate chocolate chips (the better the quality, the better the drink)
- ¾ cup of milk
- 2 T of butter
- 1 tsp of powdered peanut butter (I used PB2)
- Whipped cream
- Peanut butter
- 2-3 Reese’s miniatures
*This is per one serving, so adjust your measurements accordingly
Melt your milk and butter together in double-boiler fashion (I just put a heat-safe bowl on top of a pot of hot water).
Mix in the chocolate chips and stir until melted.
Stir in the powdered peanut butter.
Use some melted peanut butter to garnish your mug (if the mug isn’t clear, then this step doesn’t quite make sense…but it does make your drink look much more complicated than it really is).
Pour the hot chocolate into the mug, and top it off with whipped cream.
Finish the look by drizzling peanut butter, melted chocolate, and chunks of the Reese’s over the whipped cream.
So…how yummy does this look? Yeah, that’s right. And it tastes like the heaven of heavens. My advice would be to take small sips and then go for a run after so that you can have another glass and not feel guilty about it. Or just skip the run. Totally up to you.
